English Literature/English Composition
If your student has me for class, he/she will have me twice a day. English Literature is a reading class, and English Composition is a writing class. Both courses use the same textbook and are closely related. We will be covering unit 1 in both classes during the first marking period.
Today your student received a course syllabus, home connection document, and a parent letter. Please sign and return the bottom of the parent letter. Other than that, there will be no homework this week.
Please consider allowing your student to bring an electronic device to school. Our textbook has an online component that I would like to utilize during class. The online tool is very engaging. Best of all, feedback is instantaneous, so your student will know his/her grades right away. This tool allows me to assess your student's individual needs and create assignments on an individual basis. I do have Ipads reserved for the month of September; however, there are not enough Ipads on the cart for the entire class.
We will take the beginning-of-the-year benchmark test this week so I can assess your student's strengths and weaknesses. This will allow me to better meet his/her needs as we begin the year.
