February 29 - March 4

Grade 7

There will be a grammar quiz on Monday.  The skills being assessed come from the weekly error-embedded passages. 

Students will take a quiz on hyphens, dashes, and parentheses on Thursday. 

We will be finishing our role model essay this week.  Students should expect an informational essay assessment on Friday.

*All role model paragraphs (5 total) MUST be handed in by Friday.

Grade 9

Students will finish/present their possessives posters this week. 

Think questions are due Wednesday.

Writing prompts will be due by the end of the period on Thursday.

February 22 - February 26

Grade 7

Students will continue to work on their editing skills with an emphasis on commas and special words in quotes.  Another focus correction area this week will be the proper use of parentheses, dashes, and hyphens. 

Students will continue to sharpen their writing skills.  Be on the lookout for writing homework this week.  Most students won't finish their writing in class, so they will need to complete it for homework.  We will be writing about role models.

*Due to the snow days, progress reports will not be posted until Thursday.

Grade 9

Students will continue to work on their editing skills through the use of error-embedded passages.  We will be reading "Marigolds" this week.  Students will be working on various reading strategies in order to help them transact with the text.

7th Grade

Students will be participating in classroom diagnostic testing in the computer lab this week.

*Progress reports will be posted this week.  Remind your students that they may retake any assessment during the course of the marking period.


9th Grade

Students will be participating in classroom diagnostic testing in the computer lab this week.

February 1 - February 5

Grade 7

Students will continue to work on their editing skills.  This week students will focus on hyphens, commas, and quotation marks. 

Another focus this week will be explanatory writing.  Students will learn the qualities of an effective introduction and apply what they learn to their writing.

*There will be an error-embedded passage quiz on Friday. 


Grade 9

Students will wrap up Night this week.  Students read an excerpt from a story about the Hitler Youth organization and chose one of three essay prompts.  The essay/questions are due on Tuesday.  On Tuesday and Wednesday, students will read a story about survival in Auschwitz and compare it to Elie's experience.  Thursday will be used for review purposes.  Students will take a test on the book on Friday.
