Students will finish the four-corner debate and  will read/annotate "Dark They Were, and Golden-Eyed."  Students will analyze the author's use of simile and metaphor in the text and write using figurative language.

UPDATE: The practice quiz has been moved to December 19th, and the grammar quiz will be on December 20th.

There will be a grammar quiz on Friday.  Students will take a practice quiz on Thursday in order to prepare for the assessment.

Students will finish studying the structure of "Leaving Main Street," and participate in a 4-corner debate on Tuesday.  On Wednesday, students will read/annotate "Dark They Were, and Golden-Eyed."  Students will analyze the author's use of simile and metaphor in the text and write using figurative language.

Career Exploration
Periods 3 & 7

Students will spend the duration of the week working on the Shark Tank Entrepreneurship Challenge.  Students should be prepared to begin presenting their ideas to the "sharks" on December 19, 2016.

December 5 - December 9

The narrative performance-based assessment is due by the end of the period on Tuesday.

There will be a grammar quiz on Friday.  Students will take a practice quiz on Thursday in order to prepare for the assessment.

Students will participate in peer editing on Wednesday.

We will be moving into argumentation at the end of the week.  Students will set goals (pg. 118), learn academic vocabulary (pg. 119), read/annotate "Leaving Main Street" (pg. 120-121), and write a short objective summary(pg. 122).  Students will evaluate written arguments by analyzing how the author states and supports his claims.

Students will be participating in mock interviews this week.  Students will come to the interview with a resume, 3 questions for the interviewer, a pen, notebook, and a thank you letter.
