Students will participate in a minimum wage unit.  Students will create a budget using the scenario provided by teacher.

February 21 - February 24

English
Periods 1, 4, 6 & 8

Students will be working on simple, complex, and compound sentences using kinesthetic activities.  Students will also focus on independent and  subordinate clauses.


We will continue working on our writing skills.  Students will be making and supporting claims and participating in peer editing.

There will be no homework this week unless a student fails to complete his/her work during class.


We will have a test on Friday on clauses/simple, complex, and compound sentences.

Students will read silently from bell to bell.

Career Exploration
Periods 3 & 7

Students will continue learning about different career clusters.  Mrs. Fowler will finish conducting mock interviews this week.  This is a graded assignment.  The rubric is located in the 5-part interview packet.

Students will work on presenting and supporting a claim with facts, details, and examples.

Most of the week will be spent taking classroom diagnostic tests in the computer lab.

There will be no homework this week unless a student fails to complete his/her work during class.

Students will read silently from bell to bell.

Career Exploration
Periods 3 & 7

Students will continue learning about different career clusters.  Mrs. Fowler will conduct a mock job interview with each student this week.  This is a graded assignment.  The rubric is located in the 5-part interview packet.

Students will take a test on "Danger!  This Mission to Mars Could Bore You to Death!" on Monday.

Students will work on argumentative writing for the rest of the week.  Students will make claims and support those claims with evidence using facts, statistics, and examples.

Students will also focus on conventions.

There won't be any homework unless a student fails to complete his or her work during class.

Career Exploration
Periods 3 & 7

Students will practice speaking and listening effectively in an interview.  The focus will be on the 5 part interview.  Students will conduct peer interviews in preparation for an interview with the teacher.
