Grade 7
Students will continue working on their editing skills. The focus this week will be pronouns, titles, and dialogue. There will be a quiz on Friday.
We will also be working with verbs. Students will complete various writing assignments that require them to use different types of verbs and tenses.
Grade 9
Students will finish "The Most Dangerous Game." The story packet is due at the beginning of the period on Thursday.
On Wednesday, students will begin the planning phase of their I-Search research paper. Students will conduct research in the computer lab on Thursday and Friday.

Grade 7
Students will continue to improve upon their spelling and grammar skills. This week students will focus on hyphens, run-on sentences, and dialogue. Students will write using active voice.
*There will be an editing quiz on Friday.
Grade 9
Students will continue to work on improving their grammar skills via the daily bell ringer. There will be a paragraph editing quiz on Friday. We will continue working on "The Most Dangerous Game." Students are working on boosting their independent reading skills through reading, rereading, highlighting, and annotating text. Additionally, students will ask questions and create an analysis. Later in the week, students will conduct a written rules investigation with a focus on dialogue.

Students will be participating in PSSA math this week, so we will be following an irregular schedule. When I have students, we will be working on writing narratives.

Due to PSSA testing, students will report to room 660 on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Ms. Yutko will be covering class. Students will read a poem by Robert Frost and write an analysis.

Students will be taking the ELA PSSA test this week. Testing will take place on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Therefore, we will be following a modified schedule. When I see students this week, we will be playing Survivor: Writing Edition.

Students will finish analyzing how sound contributes to meaning in "The Bells." Their written analysis is due on Tuesday. We will read/analyze "The Raven" this week. Students will identify the elements of plot within the poem.

Students will complete their final argumentative essay on Wednesday/Thursday and participate in a peer edit on Friday. If students don't finish their essay by the end of the period on Thursday then it is for homework and will be due on Friday.

Students will continue studying the works of Edgar Allan Poe. This week we will be focusing on The Bells, a poem by Edgar Allan Poe. Students will be looking at sound devices and determining how sound impacts the meaning of a poem. Argumentative essays from The Cask of Amontillado are due on Thursday.
